What FinCosmos is

One place where a household records its income, spending, savings, goals and debt, and gets back three things: a financial health score from 0 to 100, a figure it can safely spend in the current period, and a consolidated view across every set of books it keeps. Where there is also freelance work or a company, it additionally gets an estimate of what to set aside for tax, computed from its own records.

This is not accounting software

FinCosmos is a cockpit, not an accounting program. It does not create, replace or stand in for any official accounting document. It does not issue invoices, does not file returns, and replaces neither your invoicing software, nor your accountant, nor an ERP. What you see here is a picture of your own records, not a set of accounts.

An estimate, not tax advice

Tax figures are planning estimates. Rates are held in the app as data, each carrying the period it applied to and a link to its source, so that every fiscal year computes with the rules that were in force for it. Even so they remain estimates: they are not tax, legal or investment advice, and the decision and the responsibility stay yours. Confirm with the tax authority or with your accountant before you file or pay anything.

The app covers eleven jurisdictions. One rate pack, the Romanian one, has been verified by us line by line; the other ten are documented starting points rather than verified data, and each pack says so in its own header.

Alpha: what that means in practice

The product is in alpha. Features may change or disappear, screens may be rearranged, and bugs are to be expected. We promise no availability: there is no service level agreement, no uptime target, and the service may be taken down for maintenance without notice. This is not offered as an excuse — we work hard to lose nothing — but it would be dishonest to promise otherwise. Download your data from time to time if you want a copy that does not depend on us.

Free, with no billing

Everything is free for as long as it stays that way. There is no subscription, no paid plan, we do not ask for your card, and we store no payment information. If there is ever a paid plan we will announce it, and nothing will be charged to you without you choosing it.

Your account

An account belongs to one person. Look after your password: whoever has it has your records. There is no such thing here as several users on one account — where somebody else needs to see part of your data, they get access by having a workspace shared with their own account.

When you share a workspace, the decision is yours and so is the consequence: the person you invited sees the records in that workspace, and if you gave them the editor role they can change them too. You can revoke access at any time, but nobody can unread what has already been read. Invite only people you would want inside your records.

Your data is yours

We claim no rights over the records you enter; they remain yours. You can download all of them at any time as a JSON file, and you can close your account at any time without asking us and without explaining why. We do not sell your data and we do not use it to train any model.

What you may not do

Do not try to reach somebody else’s account, to work around the application’s limits, to use it for anything unlawful, or to put a load on it that affects other users. There is no public API, so there is also no authorised way to extract data automatically other than your own export.

Suspension and termination

You can close your account at any time from Settings. For our part, we may suspend or close an account that breaks the rules above or puts the service at risk; where that happens we will, as far as possible, give you the chance to download your data first.

Warranties and liability

The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that the figures shown are accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose. We are not liable for financial, tax or business decisions taken on the basis of what the app shows. Nothing in this paragraph limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including the rights you have as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Romania, and disputes that cannot be settled amicably go before the courts of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. If you are a consumer in the European Union, that choice does not deprive you of the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live.

Changes to these terms

When the text changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and a material change will be called out here explicitly. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it; if you do not, you can close your account.
